Bangabandhu, a charismatic leader of global democracy

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not a mere typical politician. He is an institution, a movement and overall a revolution. Mujib's political life began as an ordinary activist while he was a student at Gopalganj Missionary School. However, with his charismatic sense of politics made him fortunate to come in early contact with the personalities like HussainShahidSuhrwardy and A K FalulHaque.

Bangabandhu grew up, during his school life, under the gathering gloom of stormy politics as the British rule in India falling apart and the World War-2 violently rocking Sub-continent. The tragic plight of the people of Sub-continent under the colonial rule turned young Sheikh Mujib a rebel. After British colonialists left, Sheikh Mujib started his fight against Pakistani neo-colonists. Step by step, with his political programs, he prepared people for their eventual destination.

Bangabandhu rushed into actions to build a strong movement against the Pakistan's conspiracy to make Urdu the state language of Pakistan. He although was in prison, Bangabandhu ordered his followers to protest best against the conspiracy. He had been arrested several times and had been imprisoned for months and months due to his demands of rights for the depressed, oppressed people. Finally, he proclaimed independence on March 26, 1971 and his people dived into nine months long bloody war against the barbarian ruling of Pakistan. Till his death, Bangabandhu never compromised with any notion which could go against the interest of his people.

Bangabandhu was not a leader by chance. He was a leader by choice. Bangabandhu firmly stated, "I don't want to be Prime Minister, I want freedom of the people of this land."Bangabandhu was such a great man that he has become greater than his achievement. He will remain as the symbol of our emancipation.
