The fire at a factory in Dhaka's Ashulia has claimed another life, taking the death toll in the November 22 incident to five.
A total of 26 female workers were burnt when flames erupted at the gas lighter manufacturing facility of Colour Max BD.
Twenty of them were brought to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's (DMCH) burns unit. On Tuesday, Mehera Khatun died at the hospital.
The 32-year-old, who had suffered 40 percent burns, succumbed to her injuries around 9:30pm, said burn unit's Resident Doctor Partha Shankar Paul.
"The fire has claimed five lives until now. Another 12 are being still treated," he told newsmen. In the meantime, probe committee report suggests that the factory had no safety license to operate.
