A mind-blowing tourist destination


Madhabpur Lake is a natural lake inside the Madhabpur tea estate. It is situated at Madhabpur tea estate in Kamalgonj upozilla of Moulovibazar district of  Sylhet Division, , Bangladesh.

 The place is just 8 km away from Vanugach. Vanugach is just 13 km away from Srimongol and 24 km from Moulvibazar. So those who visit Srimongol or Moulovibazar can easily visit the place.

The lake is about 3 kms long and dotted with serried range of hills. The water of the lake is so clean and clear that tourists can not stop themselves from jumping inside the lake. This lake is between the small hills, and most of the hills are planted with tea trees. The bank side of the lake is full of lotuses and lilies.



The color of the lilies is bluish which adorns this place with a bluish sphere. The lake is surrounded by small hills. At winter season different kinds of migratory birds come here from cold countries. So bird lovers can see and enjoy different kind of birds here. This is an ideal place for Photographers.

There is always heavy wind from the lake that made the water of the lake looks like a river or calm sea water. Tourist must enjoy the view and quietness of this lake. The lake is a government property, but surrounding hills and other stuffs are control by local people who have taken these as a lease.



The entry of the common people was restricted earlier. The infrastructure and other facility of the tourists was not upto the mark but now a days the upozilla administration is developing the infrastructure. So the spot is going to be one of the important tourist destination in the country.

To reach Madhobpur lake, first tourist have to come to Srimangal or Moulvibazar from  Dhaka by Bus. Then from Srimangal or Moulvibazar they have to hire a CNG to reach Kamalganj. This lake is located 5 kilometers west from the Kamalganj Upazila.

There is a Parjatan Motel with a good restaurant for accommodation at Madhabkunda. There are many hotels and rest houses available at Sylhet and Srimangal town. So visitors can stay there.
