Kushiara River erosion

Manikkona road at risk in Chandpur-Fenchuganj

Chanpur-Manikkona road under Fenchuganj union has been facing threats due to Kushiara river erosion in Sylhet. It is an important road on which daily a large number of vehicles run. Any untoward incident may happen anytime. Local people have urged concerned authorities to repair the road on emergency basis. It is the only road to communicate for people with north Fenchuganj union. The road was constructed by LGED on the northern side of the river Kushiara. Recently it is facing erosion particularly in Gongapur at the near of Kazi Nuruddin house two third of the road collapse about 3 feet at the river side. There is no duplicate road so people face it with risk any time they are will be fell into river.
Kazi Nuruddin told this reporter that his sleep fled away for the fear of river erosion. Out of 5 room of his house 3 have been damaged. He moved his furniture to another rooms and live with his family under risk.North Islampur CNG Auto stand manager Golam Rasul Zitu said, as there is no alternate road people use it with risk. They urge the authority to repair the road immediately. UNO in Charge and AC (Land) said, Tahsildar of the land office visited the spot.  Upazila Engineer Jihan AL Tuhin said, this road is near the bank of the Kushiara river.
Chief Engineer of Sylhet LGED inspected the road and has already informed its risky condition to higher authority.
