10,000 yaba pills seized at Teknaf

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Eastern Zone recovered 10,000 pieces of yaba from Jaliapara village at Sabrang union under Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar on Monday morning.   Sources said, BCG raided the forest area of Jaliapara village at Sabrang union under Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar at around 5 am and recovered 10,000 pieces of yaba from there. But, the team could not nab anybody in this connection.  Sources said, smuggling of contraband yaba tablets, a drug containing morphine and amphetamine is rampant in Chittagong and Cox's Bazar area.

The law enforcing agencies including elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police and Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) are taking step to stop the smuggling of yaba and other drugs. The law enforcers are continuing the special raids to nab the yaba smugglers regularly  in Chittagong and Cox's Bazar. It may be mentioned that police recovered 22,000 pieces of yaba, seized two private cars and arrested five persons  in separate raids in port city on the night of January 7. The arrested persons are identified as Apon Majumdar alias Rupak (36), Dipok Das (38), Mohammad Selim Uddin (41), Mohammad Rafik (29) and Shirin Sultana Ankhi (28).
