The hashtag Yahoo is on trend in Thailand with 346k tweets as eminent American information technology executive and chief executive officer of Yahoo Marissa Mayer is to quit the troubled tech giant if the $4.8bn (£4bn) sale of its digital services to Verizon goes ahead. The company will also be re-named Altaba though telecoms company Verizon is expected to retain the Yahoo brand. Under the deal, Yahoo is selling its email, websites, mobile apps and advertising tools to Verizon.

The hashtag Kelly O'Dwyer has been trending on twitter in Australia as Acting Special Minister of State Kelly O'Dwyer says that changes will be made to the parliamentary entitlements system within the next six months. Crossbench politicians have been calling for reform after the temporary suspension of Health Minister Sussan Ley from the frontbench amid an investigation into her travel expenses.

The hashtag Ms Dhu is trending heavily across Australia as the news goes that Felix Riebl, the co-founder, band leader and principal songwriter of the internationally acclaimed band The Cat Empire, has recorded a moving song to raise awareness about Ms Dhu's death in custody. Ms Dhu was 22 when she died two days after being detained at South Hedland Police Station in August 2014 for unpaid fines."
