A Brahmanbaria court yesterday granted bail to Rasraj Das, who was arrested in a case filed under the Information and Communication Techno-logy Act over a Facebook post demeaning the Holy Kabaa, the holiest site for Muslims.
Brahmanbaria District and Sessions Judge Ismail Hossain passed the order on bond Tk 10,000 around 11:00am responding to a bail petition. Advocate Nasir Miah stood for Rasraj while public prosecutor S M Yousuf Miah argued for the state.
Earlier on November 8, a bail petition of Rasraj, 30, son of Jagannath Das, a resident of Harinberh village of Haripur union, was rejected.
On October 30, some unruly people demolished 15 Hindu temples and vandalized over 100 houses in the upazila following a Facebook post that allegedly hurt the religious sentiment of the Muslim community.Rasraj was detained after a Facebook post posted from a profile bearing his name triggered the attack.
