The lawyers of Chittagong court on Wednesday went on a rampage after rejecting bail petition by an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) to one of their colleagues in a human trafficking case. The lawyers damaged windows, chairs of ACMM court room and scuffled with law enforcers who intervened them. The ACMM Shahdat Hossain Bhuiyan in the backdrop of the situation left his court room and took refuge in his private room. The incident took place around 5 pm which prompted the senior lawyers to meet Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Later, the accused lawyer Mohammad Jamal Hossain, got bail at 6.45 pm from the court of senior Metropolitan Magistrate Masud Parvej following CMM's further directive to the court in this regard. Earlier, Immigration police at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport detained 16 people, including 7 women, on suspicion of being Rohingyas travelling with forged passports and other documents. - BSS
