The court directed to send the Awami League leader Mohammad Ilias to jail in connection with a case of attacking on an official of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmul Hossain Chowdhury directed the law enforcing agency to arrest Mohammad Ilias rejecting his bail petition. Sources said, Awami League leader Mohammed Ilias who is known as a follower of Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation A J M Nasir Uddin attacked on Deputy Engineer of CPA Emdadul Haque along with 20/25 miscreants on December 28 last year. Following the attack, Deputy Engineer of CPA Emdadul Haque filed a case against Mohammed Ilias before the court.
Mohammed Ilias appeared before the court during the hearing of the case and submitted bail petition. But, the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Najmul Hossain Chowdhury rejected the bail. petition and directed to the law enforcing agency to arrest Mohammed Ilias and send him to jail. As a result, Ilias was sent to jail from the court. According to sources Mohammed Ilias was also involved with several attacks on the officials of the CPA earlier.
