Smritituku Thak, the book is actually an autobiography of the actress. Popular actress of the 60s' and 70s', Kabori Sarwar, known as the 'sweet maiden' or 'Mishti Meye' of Dhallywood, has unveiled her autobiography at Ekushey Boi Mela.The actress-turned-politician, 66, unveiled her memoir titled 'Smritituku Thak' on Friday. Published by BPL, the book is available at the publisher's booth.
The book is titled after a film of the starlet from the year 1976. The book will feature anecdotes and incidents from her personal, professional and political career. Poet Nirmalendu Goon has written a foreword for the book Smritituku Thak.
Regarding the book, Kabori said, "A lot of people barely know about the time and my struggles when I debuted on the big screen. I wrote this memoir so that my ardent fans can explore the unknown about me."
Kabori, who is now serving as a Member of Parliament, has enjoyed a glorious career in both acting and politics. The National Award-winning actress has served a term in the Jatiyo Sangsad as an elected lawmaker.
Born in Chittagong, the charming personality stepped into the field of cinema as an amateur artist at the age of 13.
In 1964, Kabori acted in her first film, Shutorang, under Subhash Dutta's direction. Sarwar acted in several movies (e.g. Sujon Sokhi and Sareng Bou) with Farooque in 1970s.
She also performed with Bulbul Ahmed in Devdas. She acted another important role in Titash Ekti Nadir Naam directed by Ritwik Ghatak. The phenomenal actress also starred in Urdu film 'Bahana' by Zahir Raihan with co-actor Rahman.
Sarwar worked with actors like Razzak, Alamgir, Sohel Rana, Ujjal, Wasim, Khan Ataur Rahman, Golam Mustafa, Anwar Hossain and A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman during her illustrious career.Politically active Kabori a participant in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 in India. She is also the first woman broadcast by Radio India during the war.
