Police has taken the arrested 17 alleged militants on two-day remand on Wednesday. They were arrested on allegation of being the members of militant's organizations like Hijbut Tahrir, Hijbut Tauhid and Ahle Hadis.
Sources said, police had appealed for seven days remand before the court. But, the court of Metroplitan Magistrate Harun -ur- Rashid granted two days remand for each in connection with the appeal of police.
Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Nirmolendu Bikash Chakraborti said, the court of Metroplitan Magistrate Harun ur Rashid granted two days remand for each."
Sources said, police arrested a total of 17 persons for their alleged involvement with the militant's organizations including Hijbut Tahrir, Hijbut Tauhid and Ahle Hadis in storm raids on March 12 from different places in Doublemooring thana in port city.
According to the sources, acting on a tip off, a team of police led by Officer in Charge of Double Morring thana A K M Mohiuddin Selim raided the Eid Gaon Bou Bazar area and arrested three militants when they were holding meeting at a shop at a nearby area.
Later, as per statements of the arrested persons, the team arrested more 14 militants who are the members of militant's organizations Hijbut Tahrir, Hijbut Tauhid and Ahle Hadis from the area in the storm raids from Saturday morning. Police also claimed recovering huge books on militancy and documents from the possession of the arrested persons.
