Members of Rab gunned down a suspected militant in the early hour of Saturday when he tried to attack on a checkpoint of the elite force with explosives in Dhaka city's Khilgaon area, reports UNB.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of legal and media wing of Rapid Action Battalion headquarters, said the miscreant riding a motorcycle made the attack with explosives on the checkpost of Rab-3 around 4:35am.
Sensing his appearance, officials Rab opened fire, leaving him dead on the spot. Two Rab members were also injured.
On Friday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at RAB's temporary base at Ashkona, seriously injuring two Rab personnel who were chasing him. Media reports said the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
The suicide bombing and the Saturday attack follow the weekend security operation at Chittagong's Sitakunda where four militants were killed after a 19-hour siege of a JMB hideout.
Three militants, including a woman, blew themselves up to avoid capture. Another was shot by police.
