Annisul reiterates for clean Dhaka

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq reiterates his promise to make Dhaka cleaner and greener. The total plan will take two more years, the mayor said, commenting "We are doing the best- slow, but steady."

"A total of 5,200 CCTV cameras will be installed in DNCC areas by next two years. The roads will be beautified with high powered LED bulbs. Nearly 21 U-loops will be built to minimize the traffic congestion," Annisul said.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a cleanliness campaign at Gulshan Lake Park yesterday. Gulshan Society and DNCC jointly conducted the camp.  Terming Dhaka an overcrowded city, he said, "More than one lakh people live here in per square kilometer. The job to ensure security and providing civic facilities for all is not an easy one."

"However, I promised to make Dhaka like modern Singapore during the election campaign.  I guaranteed a congestion-free and clean city.

After being a mayor, I came to know that half of the jobs are beyond my protocol," DNCC mayor observed. "Special security measures had to be taken by the law enforces in cooperation with the Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara Societies. The arrangements closed some entry routes while it minimized the vehicular flow at other points."

The new CCTV camera installation and covering the areas under round the clock surveillance would enhance the safety, Annisul opined. The Gulshan Society president ATM Shamsul Huda, secretary general Omor Sadat and RAJUK chairman Bazlur Karim Chowdhury were present.
