A vested quarter is trying to create anarchy in the name of demonstration, Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) alleged yesterday. The allegation of DUTA came out amid the continuous agitation of the Home Economics College students.
The press note, signed by Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and Dr Md Rahmat Ullah, said: "Some educational institutions, those are demanding inclusion in Dhaka University (DU), are staging demonstration blocking roads.
Their programs are to destabilize the normalcy by creating public sufferings." Home Economics College students have been staging demonstration since March 11 with the demand to declare their college as DU institute.
They said the agitation would continue until their demands were met. The students walked in a procession yesterday to press home their demand.
They chanted slogans during the march. Sabrin Sultana, one of the spokespersons of the girls, yesterday said: "We are drawing the prime minister's attention. As she has been patronizing women's education, we hope her to consider our demand."
However, the principal of the college Fatema Suraiya ruled out the students' issue. She said: "We want the college to be declared as specialized one with more facilities and modernization."
