New wage board for journalists soon


Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, the media advisor to the Prime Minister said that the  9th Wage Board for journalists is at final stage. The government will appoint the chairman of the 9th Wage Board for journalists very soon.

 Addressing the view exchange meeting with the senior journalists at Chittagong Press Club this morning,  Chowdhury said, the new 9th Wage Board for journalists will include all journalists including print and electronic media.

Although the previous wage boards for the journalists are yet to be implemented in all newspapers and medias, the 9th Wage Board for journalists will ensure the implementation by the law, he told the gathering.

 He said, Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina is doing better for the journalists as she is a journalist friendly leader. She resisted the arrest of editors by amending the law. 

 He observed that Chittagong Press Club was always active for establishing the sprit of 1971. Almost all journalists of Chittagong belong to pro-liberation forces and working to establish the spirit of liberation war, he said.
