State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam on Saturday said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken a decision of launching mid-day-meal program at all primary schools for making schooling attractive to students and reducing dropouts.
He said the government has given highest priority to the primary education as it's very important to make the nation free from the curse of illiteracy. Not only that, foundation of any higher education started from this level, he added. The state minister made this observation while launching the mid-day-meal programme at Sardaha Govt Primary School under Charghat upazila as chief guest.
Praising local initiatives to this effect, he urged all well off and benevolent persons to come forward towards launching feeding programmes at other schools. With School Managing Committee President Kazi Mahmudul Hassan in the chair, UNO Ashraful Islam, Education Officer Meer Mamunur Rahman and Rozy Khandakar also spoke.
