Four BCL activists sent to jail for demanding toll

A Barisal court on Sunday rejecting bail prayer sent four BCL leaders to jail as accused for demanding toll, assaulting principal and ransacking his office room. SI Arafat Hossain Khan of Kotwali Police Station under Barisal Metropolitan Police, said police arrested Rejaul Islam Bappy, former BCL president of Govt. Syed Hatem Ali College and his associates HM Hafijul Islam, Rubel Bepari, and ANM Hafiz, from different areas of the city on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

SI Arafat Hossain Khan said the arrest drive was started after Waliul Islam, lecturer of Islamic History of the college, on behalf of the principal, lodged a case Saturday night against five accused for demanding 5 lakh's taka as toll, assaulting college principal and ransacking his office room on Thursday. Sachin Kumar Roy, principal of the college, said since long days the prime-accused Bappy and his associates often demanding toll from college fund. Md Jasimuddin, city BCL president, acknowledging the facts, said college unit of BCL was dissolved two years ago after receiving such allegations.
