Downpour in spring

Rain may rule March


Dhaka dwellers saw shower yesterday morning. It was drizzling; later heavy showers washed away the flavor of spring. The downpour, which supposed to occur in monsoon, has untimely appeared this year.

 The chilly atmosphere reminds the last winter, putting the Dhaka dwellers in a fix whether they would put the warm clothes in the cabinet or observe the uncertainty of the temperature. The Metrological Department said rain may rule the month.

Northwesters occur in different areas of the country due to the low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area. Rain accompanied by squally wind is likely to occur at many places, Meteorologist Rashedu-zzaman said.     

Dhaka saw shower, accompanied by gusty wind, after 7:00am yesterday. School goers and office-bound people experienced bitter taste of inclement weather. Met office recorded 8 millimeter rainfall in Dhaka from 6:00am to 9:00am yesterday.          

"The streets were nearly empty during the early hours. The vehicular flow started to mount after the shower which however was normal," Assistant Commission (Traffic) of Tejgaon zone Adibul Islam said. 

In the meantime, Meteorologist Rashedu-zzaman said: "The rainy condition may remain unchanged till Tuesday. However, the last days of the month would again see such weather keeping the temperature low."

"Currently, winter chill occupies Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India," he added. Rain and thundershower occurred in place including Khulna, Satkhira in Bangladesh on Sunday. Sky was temporary and partly cloudy at other places. Winter chill still occupy the northern region and districts after Sunday shower.
