A call for strengthening the community policing to build safe and peaceful society has come forward at the conference of Community Policing Forum of Sirajganj district was at Sirajganj Stadium on Sunday. The conference was presided over by Md Miraz Uddin Ahmed, Police superintend of Sirajganj district.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Moha-mmad Nasim attended the function as a chief guest and Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque was chief negotiator at the meeting, organized by Sirajganj district police administration.
Habiba Millat Monna MP of Sirajganj Sadar-Kamarkhanda, M M Amzad Hossain Milon MP of Rayganj-Tarash-Salanga, Tanvir Imam MP of Ullapara, Salina Begum Sapna MP of Paban-Sirajganj district, Abdul Latif Biswas Chairman of Zila Parisad, District unit commander Gazi Shafiqul Islam Shofi and leaders of community policing Advocate Bimol Kumar Das also spoke at the meeting.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque has called for strengthening the program of community policing to build a safe and peaceful society and said the police have to be associated with democratic values and more friendly towards people.
Inaugurating the community policing at a function at Sirajganj Stadium on Sunday, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) also laid importance on modernization of the police to cope with the emerging challenges of security and crime caused by transcendence of technology and rapid global changes.
"Bangladesh Police is the icon of peace, security and discipline. It's every member has been making persistent endeavor for providing internal security, establishing the rule of law and protecting human rights," He said. He said members of the police keeping their lives at risk have worked with courage, competence and professionalism against militants and terrorists. Their services helped creating a sense of security among people and regaining confidence of people in police which also was praised by the world community, he added.
