Children stand together to protest child killing


A daylong program was held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital on Monday, marking the World Children and Youth Theatre Day.

People's Theatre Association (PTA), a member organization of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ), in association with BSA organized the program with the theme 'Shishu Hotyar Bikkhobe Aj Kapuk Basundhara'.

The program, was inaugurated by PTA founder and BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, that began with the rendition of the National Anthem.

Some 1000 children and young theatre activists of PTA  participated in a cultural event that included a discussion, recitation, drama and dance, music performance.

A protest program to protest violence against children and a commemorative program in memory of abused children were also be held by the children and young artistes.

ASSITEJ declared March 20 as the World Children and Youth Theatre Day in 2001 and some 250 member organizations of PTA have been observing the day since then.
