A Creative Talent Hunt Competition-2017 ended in Sundarganj upazila of the district on Monday amid much enthusiasm.
Sources concerned said the objective of the competition is to discover talents dispersed unnoticed in remotest corners of the country and take appropriate incentives for their upbringing so that they make a significant contribution to society.
The concluding ceremony of the program, organized by the local upazila education office, was held in the hall room of Sundarganj Girls High School on Monday afternoon, reports BSS.
UNO SM Golam Kibria addressed the function as the chief guest while Upazila Secondary Education Officer (USEO) M. Mahmud Hossain Mondal presided over the ceremony. UNO SM Golam Kibria said the government had taken up initiatives to hunt and search meritorious students from grassroots to national levels for flourishing their creativity to make themselves as worthy citizens of the country. USEO M. Mahmud Hossain Mondal said the competition was held in three groups of students of classes VI and VII and VIII, IX and X and XI and XII on four subjects-language and literature, science, mathematics and computer and Bangladesh studies. A total of 12 students have been selected for the next round competition at the district level to be held on March 22, the USEO said. Similar competitions were also held at other six upazila headquarters of the district, said M. Enayet Hossain, District Education Officer.
