It was a sunny afternoon in front of National Museum at Shahbagh in Dhaka. A bunch of kids were busy in drawing on the road there surrounded by enthusiastic crowd and the guardians. However, a child drew the attention of the gathering. She had only one hand and was drawing Bangabandhu's portrait.
The kid, Anima, is 12 years old and has been studying at Lorenz International School & College of the capital. She does not have her left hand by born. However, the kid did care a little about the physical challenge. Rather, she grew an extraordinary sense of care for her surroundings.
"I might be physically challenged and do not have the left hand. However, it does not mean that I'm less humane or I will be growing up without hope and curiosity of the country," Anima told. The participation of Anima even stunned the organizers. They were announcing the name to encourage the children. Under the banner 'We all are Bengalis', they arranged the drawing competition and discussion, ahead of the Independence Day. The contest was on the topic of the Liberation War.
Anima preferred sketching Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while she was delivering the speech on the historical March 7 at Suhrawardy Udyan. Bangabandhu struggled for his dream and navigated the nation to independence- more like my fight and dream, she said. The kids’ sketches, no doubt, reflected the spirit of the people as well as Anima's very positive strength for life.
