Revolutionary Workers Party's congress begins

The 9th congress of Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, a component of Democratic Left Alliance, began yesterday in Dhaka to elect its new central committee.

The inaugural session of the four-day congress started at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh while its organizational session is scheduled to be held at Swadhinata Hall at Segunbagicha.

A total of 226 party representatives of 41 organizational districts, representatives of different left parties, and delegations of different left parties of India, Nepal and other countries joined the congress.

The party held its last congress in 2010 and the 9th congress was due in 2013. Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh was founded in 2004 by a section of rebel leaders and activists of Rashed Khan Menon led Workers Party of Bangladesh.
