Despicable act of terror jolts London

After a long pause of twelve years since the 7/7 transit bombings of 2005 - London has once again been targeted for a terror strike on Wednesday. A reportedly sick and a depraved man with possible links to the Islamic State has been mentioned to have carried out the attack killing four people while injuring some 40 more near the British parliament  building - the very heart of power in UK.

The suspect, dressed all in black, drove a car at 50mph the full length of Westminster Bridge, aiming deliberately at pedestrians and cyclists. Along with innocent pedestrians the nearby Police officers were also hit and injured as one of them succumbed to injuries. Beside the rest of the world, we too, highly condemn such heinous terror attack on innocent civilians.

Wednesday was perhaps the day the British police had always planned for but hoped would never come. Sadly it has. UK has launched a counter-terror probe in the wake of the attack. However, despite the five killed and over a hundred injured the country's security services acted in an exemplary fashion.

Nevertheless, it has been seen in the recent past how a series of European cities have been warily selected by extremist terrorists for carrying out premeditated terror strikes. And also with the Islamic State fighting a losing war - the possibility for terror strikes in any city around the world has become increasingly more over the past year.  Regrettably, the London terrorist attack leading to five deaths, including the perpetrator and a policeman will find its way into the old racially tinged political discourse.

The ongoing military anarchy in the Middle East cannot be separated from what happened in London, Brussels, Berlin, Nice, or in other places that have become victims of continuing upheaval in a terror-crescent that stretches from the Mediterranean to South Asia.

It is, however, incomprehensible why the Western powers are repeatedly failing to deter the spree of isolated terror attacks when all of them collectively are well aware about the actual reasons behind them. Observing deeply, all such attacks are intricately linked with the ongoing military onslaughts the Western powers are causing in the name of eliminating the IS, institute their form of democracy in the Middle Eastern countries while fighting a rhetorical war titled the 'War against terror'.
