Prime Minister's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury called upon all including politicians and newsmen to be united for protecting the rivers and nature.
He also urged them to consider the rivers and nature protection as a national issue instead of political issue. Iqbal Sobhan made the call while unveiling the cover of a book at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday. Journalist Ashish Kumar Dey compiled the book titled 'Bangladesher Nad-Nadi and Nau Paribahan Babostha'.
"The protection of river and nature should not only be a slogan-based issue, rather it should be considered as an important national issue," he said. The PM's media adviser said the government has formulated various rules and policies for reviving all the rivers and river routes. While talking about trans-boundary rivers, Iqbal hoped that neighboring India will extend cooperation on different issues including sharing Teesta river water.
Chaired by noted politician Manjurul Ahsan Khan, the program was also addressed by Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, Professor Dr M Akhtaruz-zaman, Shyamal Datta, Professor Dr Mir Tareque Ali, AKM Fakhrul Islam and Senior Vice-Chairman of BIWTC Badiuzzaman Badal.
