Tahmid Hasib Khan
The court has deferred the verdict in the case against Holey Artisan bakery hostage Tahmid Hasib Khan for not cooperating with police investigators.
The decision was due yesterday, but Metropoli-tan Magistrate Mahmudul Hassan rescheduled the verdict for April 16.
Tahmid was present at the time, a court clerk told bdnews24.com.
Tahmid, former North South University Professor Hasnat Rezaul Karim and 11 others were rescued on July 2 last year after being held during the militant attack on Gulshan's Holey Artisan bakery which led to the death of 20, including 17 foreigners.
Though police said all the hostages had been released after police questioning, the families of Tahmid and Hasnat said they had not returned home. Police then arrested the two with suspected ties to the attack. Investigators later charged Tahmid with non-cooperation with the police.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack and posted photos online via Amaq, its propaganda agency, which it claimed were of foreigners killed in the attack. Authorities say local militants, not Islamic State, carried out the 12-hour siege
