Eminent recital artiste Kazi Arif passed away at Manhattan's Mount Sinai Hospital, New York on Saturday morning, according to local media agencies. He was 65. Kazi Arif had been going through medical treatment at the hospital since his heart's bulb was not properly functioning. His heart bulb was replaced through a bypass surgery on Tuesday.
He was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as his condition worsened after the surgery. He died at the ICU on Saturday morning. Born in 1952 in Faridpur, Kazi Arif participated in the 1971 Liberation War from sector 1. He received Kazi Sabyasachi Memorial Award in 2016.
Kazi Arif was one of the pioneers of recital art in Bangladesh. He was one of the founders of the Abritti Sangshad, the first recital organization in the country.
