Abducted student rescued in Barisal, 15 nabbed


Barisal Metropolitan Police rescued an abducted student from Barisal Polytechnic Institute hostel and detained 15 including a BCL leader from the spot on Wednesday afternoon.

The rescued Deep Kumar Pal, son of Keshob Chandra Pal from Ghunabari under Kalihati upazila of Tangail district and was a student of fourth semester (electric department) of Barisal Polytechnic Institute.

The leader of the abductor gang was his classmate Asaduzzaman Fahim, a BCL leader of the convening committee of the institute unit. Asaduzzaman, assistant commissioner of BMP, said during these rescue operation cohorts of the abductors attacking police with brickbats injured a constable.

Police from the spot also recovered sharp weapons, knife, scotch tape, electrical wire, plus used in torturing the hostage. Three cases of abduction, demanding toll and recovering torturing equipments and attack on law enforcers would be lodged in this connection, the police official told.

The rescued victim Deep told, he came from Dhaka by road on Wednesday early morning. Fahim and his associates abducted him from the Nathullabad bus stand and detained him at room no. 501 of the polytechnic hostel.
