Former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Prof Dr Atiur Rahman said, "Bangladesh and India, two key countries of South Asia, are demonstrating fantastic growth trends as part of developing Asia despite global uncertainties and slowdown."

Business Faculty of Dhaka University in collaboration with a few other well reputed Asian Universities organized the 6th Asian Management Research and Case Conference-2017 on Tuesday.
In his keynote speech Dr Rahman placed a perspective of the global growth scenario in post Brexit and US election global economic uncertainties. He said, despite the global slowdown the developing Asia including Bangladesh and India is poised to grow more than 7 percentage points mainly because of its focused attention on low-cost manufacturing and broad-based inclusive growth strategy.
Dr Rahman further said despite sluggish growth in Europe Bangladesh picked up two-thirds of the low-end exports vacated by China and this trend will continue for some years to come. Further Dr Rahman suggested to look towards near neighbors in Asia for enhancing intra-regional trade like South Korea which pushes 60 percent of its total exports to Asia.
He also advised that, Bangladesh policy makers to remain focused on faster poverty reduction through improving value-added agricultural growth strategy.
