The National Eidgah on the Supreme Court premises in the capital is all set to hold the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation (Jamaat) on Eid day. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon yesterday visited the ground and told reporters that there was no threat of sabotage or attack.
The mayor also said lightning preventative measures have been introduced to the Eid pandals. The initiative is for the first time of its kind at any huge gathering where huge number of devotees including the president, ministers, judges, lawmakers and diplomats will offer their prayers there under tight security.
The congregation will be held at the Eidgah at 8:30am. In case of inclement weather, the jamaat will be shifted to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and will be held at 9:00am. Every necessary arrangements including sitting place, waterproof shed, fans, toilets and ablution facilities have already been set up.
Besides, arrangements for around five thousand women are available at one side of the Eidgah with a separate entrance. Meanwhile, adequate security measures have been taken at National Eidgah. Archway has been set up at main gate. People will be searched with metal detectors at other gates. Besides, close circuit (CC) cameras are being installed in and around the Eidgah. Members of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) force will remain vigilance during the time.
"Hopefully all of us will have a happy Eid together," he said adding, "We do not fear any kind of sabotage. Police have already assured everyone of the safety."
