Sales of prayer accessories are rising as Eid shoppers have now turned to buy those in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims. From first Ramadan the Eid shoppers already purchased all types fashionable items including sari, punjabi, three-pieces, shoes, jewellery and cosmetics. Now at the last stage they are turning to prayer accessories including prayer mat, cap, attar, surma (kohl) and tasbih. After visiting several markets including Baitul Mukarram Mosque Market, Kakrail Mosque, New Market and Mirpur, the Asian Age correspondent has found sellers busy in the last moment of Eid sales. Their businesses have increased tremendously.
Fardus Alam, a salesman of Al Haramine Attar Centre, said, after buying clothes and shoes the shoppers are now turning to prayer accessories. They are selling local and imported onesp. He said more than one hundred items of attar including Agarwood Attar, Amber Attar, Amber Ood Arabian Attar, Attar Hina, Attar Hina, Bakhoor Attar, Bakul Attar, Black Musk Attar, Blue Lotus Attar, Chameli Attar, Choya Loban Attar, Choya Ral Attar, Dehnul Oud Attar, Earth Soil Attar,Frangipani Attar, Gardenia Perfume Oil, Genda Attar, Goldmohar Attar, Gul Hina Attar, Gulab Attar (Rose Attar), Har Sringar Attar, Henna Attar, Hina 555 Attar, Hina Ambari Attar, Hina Musky Attar, Hina Oudhi Attar, Hina Zafrani Attar and Honey Suckle Attar they are selling which are made in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, South Africa and other Middle-Eastern countries.
Akbar Hossain, the owner of Hossain Cap House at Baitul Mukarram Market, said most customers are demanding crafts and designed prayer caps as people are now more fashion conscious. He said many kinds of prayer caps, such as round Topi is sold at Tk 50 to Tk 500, Hajji cap at Tk 100 to Tk 250, Yemeni cap at Tk 150 Tk 300 and China cap at Tk 250 to 350 per piece.
Rasadul Islam of Mirpur came to New Market to buy prayer accessories including attor and cap. He has purchased clothes and shoes for his family members. Now he wants to buy cap, tosbi and attar as without those Eid shopping will be incomplete.
