Local people protested and brought out demonstration on Saturday against the downgrading of Ashuganj Railway Station from B grade to D-Grade in Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria.
On 31 July, a three-day program was announced along with strike and rail line blockade in Ashuganj. Jagruta Ashuganjbashi organization declared the road blockade and strike.
Ashuganj railway station is reinstated in B grade; according to the design planned development Member secretary of the organization, Isa Khan, announced the program to 3-point demand for the departure of the Torna Nishita train.
After that the convener of Jagruta Ashuganjbasi and the convener of Ashuganj upazila Awami League Haji Md Shafiullah Mia presided over the meeting. Speakers demanded the up gradation of Ashuganj Railway Station according to the original design and plan. A three-point demand was presented at the meeting as well.
If the proposal is not accepted, on July 19, they will form a human chain on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway and will block the road on July 25, and on 31 July they will conduct a strike in Ashuganj.
Earlier on July 3, on behalf of the organization, Deputy Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the minister of Railways has been given a memorandum in protest against the downgrading of the D Grade from B grade to Ashuganj Railway Station.
