The girl, who was rescued from a hotel in Dhaka's Shyamoli on July 8 evening in a senseless condition, was pronounced dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday.
The victim-identified as Mithila, 22-was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after her condition deteriorated. However, she succumbed to injuries around 7:30 am yesterday, in-charge of DMCH police camp SI Bachchu Mia said.
The girl and a youth, Ashraf, checked in the residential hotel in the city's Shyamoli area on July 8 introducing them as couple. It was suspected that Ashraf tried to strangle Mithila which left her unconscious.
Later, Mohammadpur police rescued her and took her to the DMCH, the SI said. However, further details about the girl could not be known in the last 12 days.
