4 N’ganj factories fined for polluting environment

The Department of Environment (DoE) on Tuesday fined four factories Tk 61.86 lakh for polluting the environment in Narayanganj.

As part of its drive against environmental pollution, the DoE Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) slapped the fine on the factories as compensation, said a DoE handout.

It said the factories were harming the environment and ecology by releasing untreated liquid effluents.

At a DoE hearing on Tuesday, Rupsha Knitwear Ltd was fined Tk over 47 lakh while Purbachal Paper Mills Limited Tk 6.3 lakh, AZ Premium Washing Plant 4.5 lakh and Hasem Paper Mills Limited Tk 3.6 lakh.
