Medical board formed for Siddiqur

A five-member medical board has been formed for the treatment of Titumir college student Siddiqur Rahman, whose eyes were damaged in police attack during a demonstration in Shahbagh. National Institute of Ophthalmo-logy (NIO) director Prof Dr Md Golam Mostafa said physicians from different departments have been included to it.        

The members are-Prf Dr Dipak Kumar Nath, Prof Golam Hayder, Prof Iftekhar Monir, Dr Saifullah and Shamol Kumar. Siddiqur returned home from Chennai after an eye surgery on Friday.  "The boy needs a miracle," the Indian doctors said adding his chance to get back eyesight is totally slim. On Friday, he was taken to NIO and its director said the board would monitor his condition. Already some of the board members visited him yesterday. His left eye has no improvement. "He feels light, but the eyesight has gone," after visiting him, the doctors said.  

Echoing the physicians, Siddiqur's classmate Shah Ali, who was beside his friend yesterday, said that the many college teachers paid visit and inquired his condition. "There were no positive hints," Shah Ali noted adding they would form a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club today protesting the police action and to press home their 7-point demand.
