The foreign ministry citing the Saudi embassy in Dhaka has said there is no pending application for visa with them.
“Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to inform that 118,924 pilgrims' visas have been approved by Saudi authorities as of 14 August 2017,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka has informed that there is no pending application with them,” according to the statement that followed a High Court order.
The court earlier on Aug 13 asked the government to take necessary steps in 48 hours for sending stranded Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
As many as 127,198 Bangladeshi pilgrims are expected to perform the Hajj this year as registered with the government.
But until Saturday, it was told that 58,361 pilgrims had reached Saudi Arabia.
The foreign ministry said they are closely working with the Saudi authorities on Hajj issues.
