Paying deep tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, people of Rajshahi and its adjoining districts on Tuesday observed the National Mourning Day-2017 and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect and solemnity.
The day was observed with a fresh vow to materialize the dreams of Bangabandhu to build a 'Sonar Bangla' and bring back the fugitive convicted killers of him. Various government and non-government organisations, political parties, socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions observed the day with elaborate programmes.
The day's programms include hoisting of national flags and black flags, wearing black badges, placing of wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu and four national leaders, offering of special prayers and bringing out of mourning processions, reports BSS.
The district administration organised a discussion and doa mahfil at Shilpakala Academy auditorium marking the day. Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman, DIG of police of Rajshahi Range Khurshed Alam, RMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman and many others spoke.
