Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit the flood-hit region in northern Bangladesh as the onrush of upstream waters amid monsoon have left millions marooned.
Hasina will visit the affected areas in Dinajpur and Kurigram on Sunday, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told bdnews24.com.
A second round of floods late last month has affected 3.3 million people in 22 districts across the country, according to the disaster management ministry.
Until Wednesday, the death toll from the floods in northern and northeastern regions rose to 107. Of them, 92 drowned in the waters.
Experts fear a food crisis as the floods have damaged crops on 450,000 hectares.
