Sources close to European Union have said that 93,435 Bangladeshis have entered different European countries during the last eight years, and under these circumstances, European Union (EU) has warned to stop issuing further visa to Bangladeshi visa applicants if Bangladeshi illegal immigrants are not repatriated soon.
Bangladesh government is likely to sign an agreement with EU shortly for bringing back illegal immigrants. On the other hand, foreign policy experts have said tough actions require to be taken against human traffickers as well as unscrupulous officials who are involved in illegal immigration.
EU member states have recently become stringent over dealing with illegal immigration as a result of exodus of refugees from several war-ravaged countries. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said, Bangladesh is soon going to sign an agreement with EU over illegal immigrants' issue.
Different government and non-government organizations are working on resolving the problems linked with illegal immigration and refugees all over Europe.Authorities in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are also mobilizing special drive to detain Bangla-deshi workers who have no valid papers.
A lot of Bangladeshi workers have meanwhile returned home from the Middle East for this reason. Experts have emphasized on strengthening diplomatic efforts from Bangladesh for the safety of Bangladeshi workers abroad.
