Five police personnel of Sadar Police Station were closed to Chuadanga Police Lines on Sunday for negligence in their duties over an incident of theft at Samabay Market in front of deputy commissioner's office.
Nizam Uddin, superintendent of district police, made the order in this regard.
The closed policemen are sub-inspector Akram Hossain, constables Nabirul Islam, Sajidur Rahman, Jasim Uddin and Rezaul Hossain.
The SP also gave three-day ultimatum to officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Tozammel Haque, inspector (investigation) Golam Mohammad, and inspector (operation) Ameer Abbas to recover the stolen valuables and arrest the persons involved.
Otherwise, legal action must be taken against them, the SP warned.
Breaking locks of some shops in the market, the thieves stole a computer monitor and some cash money on Friday night.
