A case was filed with a local court on Sunday against six young men for gang-raping two schoolgirls at Char Bhabanipur village in Sujanagar upazila and uploading the video clip of the nefarious act on the internet.
The victims filed the case with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal against Hazrat Ali, 26, Al Amin, 25, Shahin, 24, Mithun, 26, Panku, 27, and Sohel Rana, 28, all residents of the village.
Judge of the tribunal Imran Hossain Chowdhury ordered police to arrest the accused.
Victims' counsel Rajiullah Sardar Ranju said the case was filed with the court as the police station concerned did not record it.
According to the case statement, the accused gang-raped the two girls on August 1 while they were returning home from school.
The rapists also captured the incident on their mobile phones and threatened to upload it on the internet if they disclosed the incident.
Following the threat, the victims kept the incident secret.
However, the rapists started blackmailing the two schoolgirls showing the video.
As the victims refused their proposal to engage in physical relations with them, the culprits uploaded the footage on social networking site Facebook.
After knowing the incident, the family members went to Sujanagar Police station for filing a case against the accused. But the police did not take their case.
However, officer-in-charge of the police station Obaidul Haque denied the allegation, saying no one came to file any case.
