The regular academic activities of the SOS Shishu Polli remained suspended due to continuous water-logging in the current rainy season. The activities of Shishu Polli was suspended as tidal water entered its campus creating regular water-logging , according to sources.
The SOS Shishu Polli is situated at Block-L at Halishahar area in the port city. It takes care of the under privileged children.
The organization provided education and training to under privileged children regularly. But, in the current year, the area turned into a place of frequent water-logging in the rainy season following a heavy shower even in the moderate rainfall due to faulty drainage system.
As a result, the buildings are always going into knee deep water during the rain and high tide. The water which logged at the area due to rain or high tide cannot go anywhere due to absence of drainage system in Chittagong. As a result, the student cannot go to the classes as water logging made the buildings of Shishu Polli unusable.
A total of 30 students are reading at the SOS Shishu Polli in separate trade courses. But, the students are afraid of completing their courses in time. The students said they cannot go to classes as the buildings gone into knee deep water now.
Not only raining but high-tidal water also created water logging, they pointed out. Fazlul Kabir, the director of SOS Shishu Polli said, “We have to close our academic activities due to water logging.”
