Dhaka North and South City corporations on Wednesday promised to remove the wastes of sacrificial animals within 36 hours.
Officials of the two city corporations came up with the assurance at a meeting about waste management of Eid-Ul-Azha arranged by the Information Ministry at its conference room, said a handout.
They said necessary preparations have been taken by both Dhaka North and South City Corporations to remove the wastes at the quickest possible time.
If sacrificial animals are slaughtered at the spots fixed by the city corporations, then it will be possible to remove the wastes within 36 hours, they told the seminar.
In Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), five slaughtering spots have been fixed for each ward while there are 625 slaughtering spots in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), said the representatives of DNCC and DSCC.
They said preparations have also been taken to raise public awareness about animal slaughtering and waste removal.
The officials urged the city dwellers not to slaughter sacrificial animals on roads or in open spaces.
They also said a campaign will be carried out using loudhailers and leaflets at the upazila and union levels in addition to using the print and electronic media.
