Government takes steps for farmer's dev: Ashikur


Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration Ministry HN Ashikur Rahman, MP, has said the government has taken various steps for the development of farmers in Rangpur.

"The present pro-farmer government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is assisting the peasants in using latest agriculture technologies to increase crop output for enriching national economy with ensuring food security," he said.

Rahman was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day `Fruit Tree Fair-2017' jointly organized by the Depart-ment of Agriculture Exte-nsion (DAE) and upazila administration on Mith-apukur upazila parishad premises on Monday afternoon, reports BSS.

Terming farmers as the main drivers for country's development, he said they (farmers) are working hard to keep wheels of the national economy rotating and Awami League (AL) always thinks about changing fortune of the farmers.

He called upon the farmers for increasing production of all crops and fruits to further boost national economy and ensure food security, meet nutritional demand, alleviate poverty and achieve self-reliance. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mamun-Ar-Rashid, Upazila Agric-ulture Officer Khorshed Alam delivered welcome speech at the function.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mithapukur Thana Mozammel Haque, farmer Reshma Begum and Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Zaber Ali Pramanik also spoke.
