Irrfan Khan's Doob continues to shine

Success continues for Irrfan Khan starring film Doob (No Bed of Roses) as it gets selected for the main competition section of El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt. Apart from that, the much anticipated film by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has also been selected for the Busan International Film Festival and Vancouver International Film Festival.

Doob is also the only South Asian title in the El Gouna competition, with Indian title Mukkabaaz by Anurag Kashyap playing out of competition. The festival is going to run from September 22 to 29. In this competition, Farooki's latest film will compete with some of the strongest films of world cinema this year, which includes Berlin film festival's silver bear winner

The Other Side Of Hope, Tribeca Film Festival winner Son Of Sofia, Locarno film festival's First Feature Film winner and Bosnia's official entry to the Oscar Scary Mother, Best Actor winner in Venice The Insult, The Third Murder (Venice International film festival, In competition), Volubilis (Venice Days), and Zama (Venice International film festival, out of competition).

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki confirmed the news through a Facebook post. He wrote in his timeline on Sunday, "Very happy to share the news of some important selections for Doob (No Bed of Roses). It has been selected for inaugural El-Gouna Film Festival's competition section alongside some of the strongest titles of this year." He also wrote, "I also feel very happy to announce the selection of No Bed of Roses for Vancouver International Film Festival in Busan".

On the other hand the 22nd edition of Busan International Film Festival will run from October 12 to 21 at the capital of South Korea. Doob will compete in A Window on Asian Cinema section in this festival. A total of 55 Asian films will be screened in the section along with films like Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds, and Anurag Kashyap's The Brawler.

Canada's Vancouver International Film Festival will run from September 28 - October 13 where Doob will be screened in the World Cinema Panorama section. Sources close to the production said the film is in contention to go to a couple of other film festivals, but those have not been finalized yet.

Doob (No Bed of Roses) is a joint venture between Jazz Multimedia (Bangladesh) and Eskay movies (India). Starring Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imroz Tisha in the lead character, the film has already received great reviews from top film critics and magazines like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Screen Daily. The film is going to be released in India, Bangladesh and some other territories on October 27.
