The death of a schoolgirl in a road accident in the city's Kazipara area of Mirpur triggered an angry protest on Tuesday noon. The deceased was identified as Disha, 10, a Class-V student of Mirpur Ideal School. Nurnahar Akter Mim an eyewitness of the incident said the Asian Age that an Agargaon-bound bus of "Tetulia Paribahan" hit Disha near Kazipara Bus Stand area around 12:45pm while she  was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot.

Outraged at the death of the schoolgirl in the road accident, locals blocked the road, vandalized the bus and set it on fire. The incident had created panic among the pedestrians of nearest areas.  Later firefighters rushed in and doused the blaze. But people wanted to set fire another bus of "Tetulia Paribahan" but failed. Thousands of people were stranded as locals stopped vehicular movement in the area.   The vehicular movement returned to normalcy after the angry mob withdrew the blockade around 2:15pm. Meanwhile police have arrested the bus driver.
