21 including Jamaat men held in Dinajpur


Police, in special drives from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, arrested 21 people including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and recovered 500 bottles of phensidyl syrup from five upazilas of the district. Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested nine persons, Hakimpur Thana police arrested four persons, Birganj Thana police arrested three persons, Biral Thana police arrested two persons and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested three activists of Jamaat. Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 500 bottles of phensidyl syrup from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition during the period.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. The arrested people were sent to jail.
