BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Monday alleged that Myanmar is repeatedly violating Bangladesh airspace due to the government's incapability to run the country and its subservient policy.
"Myanmar is now violating our airspace again and again due to the current government's inability to run the country. People are being killed and repressed regularly along the border even their crops are being snatched due to the government's knee-jerk policy," he said.
Speaking at a human-chain program, the BNP leader also said, "We would like to ask the government why you're empowering the country's forces when you can't prevent anything against the country. People don't want to see anyone in power only to commit plundering."
BNP arranged the program in front of the Jatiya Press Club protesting the police attack on a preparatory meeting ahead of Durga Puja at BNP Standing Committee member GoyeshwarChandra Roy's house in Keraniganj, reports UNB.
Nazrul who recently visited Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar said refugees are going through immense sufferings for lack of enough relief materials. When the government should ask the people to get united and stand by the persecuted refugees, he alleged, it has obstructed BNP from distributing relief items among them.
The government not only obstructed BNP but also deprived Rohingya refugees of relief and humanitarian assistance. The BNP leader said though they saw different political parties, socio-cultural and religious organizations distributing aid among Rohingyas, they did not find anyone from the ruling party and its 14-party alliance to do so.
Nazrul alleged that Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader is spreading lies instead of standing beside the Rohingyas with sufficient relief materials.
Mentioning that it is not possible to provide the Rohingyas with adequate humanitarian assistance alone by the government, the BNP leader asked the authorities concerned to involve people from all walks of life to carry out relief activities.
He criticized the government for foiling a religious meeting at Goyeshwar's house by the police. The BNP leader also alleged that the government unfortunately had attacked Muslim's iftar parties and now attacking Hindu's meeting on Durga Puja.
He also came down heavily on the government for what it said its utter failure to keep the rice price within the people's buying capacity.
