Former professional Australian rules footballer Angus Monfries has announced his retirement from the AFL after 211 games over 13 seasons. The 30-year-old forward's decision was not unexpected, after struggling to overcome injuries and playing only one senior game this season. The former Bomber also missed all of 2016 as a result of bans handed to 34 Essendon players over the 2012 doping saga. A Texas Tech University freshman is accused of shooting dead a campus police officer on Monday night after drugs were found in his room, a school official said. The suspect, 19-year-old Hollis Daniels, escaped after the shooting, sending the school in lockdown as police launched a manhunt in Lubbock, Texas, authorities said.  "The @TexasTech university lockdown has been lifted and the suspect is in custody". @TwitterMoments 


Fashion designer Donna Karan has come to the defense of film producer Harvey Weinstein by praising the movie mogul and saying women who dress sensually are asking for trouble. Weinstein's alleged conduct has been condemned by his friends Meryl Streep and Judi Dench, who called the claims "horrifying" and "inexcusable".
