Three-day long Kheturdham festival ends at Premtali

A three-day long historic Kheturdham festival (Khetur Mohotsav) will end today (Wednesday) which began at Premtali Gourangabari in Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi on Monday.

This traditional and historic festival of Sanatan Hindu religion followers has been observing years after year at Gourangabari Temple of Premtali Khetur Dham area under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.

People of West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura, Assam and other provinces in India including different districts of Bangladesh came to attend the festival. Tagore Norottom Das expressed to take bathe at Ganges River on Krisna fifth day of Bangla Kartik month in 1611 AD.

Tagore Norottom  ordered his dear fans Ganganarayan and Ramkrisna to brush his body while submerging half of his body when he were to taken by his followers at Ganges River for bath. His body was disappeared with Ganges water while turning into liquid metal like milk when his whole body was brushed by those two disciples. 

According to it, Norottom Tagore was alive in the earth till 80 years.  The festival is held on the fifth day of Bengali month of Kartik and it has been observing for 445 years. Narottam was the initiator of the Kheturi Festival.

By the initiative of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) fans of several countries like France, America, Nepal, Australia participated. ISKON made a stage at Khetur and organized to distribute sweets among fans, garland shops, books distribution, congregation verses reciting, city shrinking, etc.

Khetur Dham Tagore Gobinda Premvokti Moharaj Tagore said about Norottom Das's greatness, 'One day Shree Choitonno Mohaprovu along with his disciples went to Nadia area for Mohanam shrinking. Suddenly, Eye of Mohaprovu was caught towards Kheturi village. 

Mohaprovu then cried and said the name of Norottom, Norottom. Then conceal of Mohaprovu and long years later gone. Shree Norottom Das Tagore was born on fifth day (Sulko Panchomi) of Bangla Magh month in the home of King Krisnanada and Shree  Narayani Debi beside Padma River area of Gopalpur town.
